Welcome to Searchlight. I have designed this website to introduce you to this unique community. Hopefully this will provide you with information about the community businesses and the recreational opportunities that surround Searchlight. This community is centrally located between Las Vegas and Laughlin and a short 14 miles from Lake Mojave, which part of the Colorado River.
Just west of Searchlight on State Highway 164 you will find a large Yucca forest. Within in this forest there is the Walking Box Ranch, which was originally built by Rex and Clara Bow Bell and the Wee Thump Wilderness Area.
South on Highway 95 just passed Cal-Nev-Ari you will find Christmas Tree Pass, where you can travel on dirt roads, hike and camp. During your travels you will come across the Grape Vine Canyon, with numerous petroglyphs. For more information visit the links below.
Bureau of Land Management has created an area around Searchlight known as an Area of Critical of Environmental Concern (ACEC), which represents the largest area of high density desert tortoise habitat known in Nevada. To learn more you can click on this link and scroll down to the Piute/Eldorado ACEC.
If you are a motorcycle enthusiast make sure you check out the Searchlight Grand Prix which is held every year.
