Searchlight Today, has a community of approximately 1,000 residents, ranging from children to retirees.

The Harry Reid Elementary School ( named in honor of US Senator "Harry Reid" ) serves kindergarten through fifth grade. Sixth grade through High School, attend school in nearby Boulder City, which is approximately 40 miles north of Searchlight.

Law enforcement is provided by the Nevada Highway Patrol and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (Clark County). Searchlight has the "Searchlight Volunteer Fire Department" which has three fire/ rescue trucks and one ambulance. The SVFD responds to emergencies out to a radius of approximately 20 miles in all directions. SVFD is also supported with "Helicopter Transport" out of Las Vegas. We appreciate the dedicated men and women "volunteers" that serve Searchlight, Thank you. Searchlight is also home to the Nevada Department of Transportation's, Searchlight Maintenance Station, their team does a fine job in keeping DOT roadways safe for commuters and travelers alike.

The Searchlight Community Center was dedicated in October of 1989. This center services the Medical Clinic, Clark County Library Branch, the Searchlight Historic Museum, office of the Clark County Parks and Recreations Representative, meeting rooms, multi purpose rooms, and a kitchen.

As vacation and relocation trends increase, a subdivision of new modern living luxury homes has developed in Searchlight. There are two churches, a full service Post Office, a truck stop, McDonalds, Restaurants and Casinos, Senior Center and much more development in the works.

There are several clubs and organizations in the community, Roadrunners, Shriner's, VFW, Museum Guild and Art & Craft Guild.

Searchlight is the "gateway" to Lake Mojave, which is 14 miles down to beautiful Cottonwood Cove, which also boasts one of the best "Striper Bass" fisheries in the west. Cottonwood Cove also is home to the Cottonwood Cove Resort and Marina, located within the Lake Mead Recreational Area. It is administered by National Park Service. There is also a campground, fuel, a cafe, marina store, and motel at this location.

Searchlight and surrounding areas are appealing to the outdoorsmen and nature lovers, it's quaint desert community has some of the best kept secrets and history of Southern Nevada.
